Species and Biodiversity

New Zealand is a very special place with ecosystems and plants and animals that are unique due to the island location and lack of introduced species.

Since the arrival of humans, changing land use and introduced predators have driven some species to extinction and decimated the populations of others. Now around 4000 species in Aotearoa face extinction.

The Trust will take action to preserve, conserve, protect and enhance our endangered species and their habitats.
