Protected Lands

New Zealand has a heritage of public protected lands, the majority managed on our behalf by the Department of Conservation in partnership with Iwi, and also directly by Iwi, regional and local authorities.

The statues and policies that govern the management of these taonga put conservation of their natural values and indigenous flora and fauna as the priority objective of their management.  When this objective is compromised the Trust will look for opportunities to ensure protection of those values remains the priority.
